Test of English as a Foreign Language

TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language, which is an international standardized test used to measure the English language proficiency of non-native speakers who are planning to enroll in English-speaking universities or institutions. It assesses the four language skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. TOEFL scores are accepted by over 11,000 universities and institutions in more than 150 countries, and the test is offered in over 165 countries. The test is conducted by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), and it is available in two formats: the internet-based test (iBT) and the paper-based test (PBT). The TOEFL iBT consists of four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, and takes about 3 hours to complete. The Reading and Listening sections are multiple-choice questions, while the Speaking and Writing sections are essay-based and require test-takers to respond to prompts.
